OPEN MICS

Open mics are Flux's bread and butter! Featuring poetry, spoken word, music, and whatever other art that performers choose to share, open mics welcome everyone to come celebrate each other. Regardless of whether you're officially "part" of Flux, you're encouraged to attend and, if you'd like, perform. We host open mics almost every week at 8PM on Thursdays in Brooks Hall.

WORKSHOPS

Flux usually hosts one to two workshops a semester. Workshops are generative opportunities, centered around a theme. Some past examples have been workshops on the macabre, on love letters, and on the domestic as romanticized through oranges. During workshops, we'll read and discuss a few selected poems, write our own work, and end with a chance for people to share what they've written!
Flux is focused on generating and sharing work, but if you're also looking for a critique-based workshop, the Writers Club or Hoos Writing are both great CIOs on grounds to look into.
